Canada Post tracking numbers typically come in one of two formats. One common format is 16 digits (numeric only). The other format is 13 alphanumeric characters: two letters, nine digits, and ending in “CA” (for example, LM123456789CA). Some domestic services may also use 11, 12, or 13 digit numeric-only formats depending on the service. You will find the Canada Post tracking number printed on the receipt, the shipping label, or in the email confirmation from the sender. Enter that number into our tracking tool to check your parcel’s status.
If you have questions or issues with a Canada Post shipment, you can contact their support team. For customers in Canada, call 1-866-607-6301. For callers outside Canada, use 416-979-3033. When contacting support, have your tracking number or Delivery Notice Card number ready, along with the date of shipment and service type, to help the team assist you more effectively.
To send a parcel with Canada Post, choose one of the services that include tracking (such as Regular Parcel™, Xpresspost™, Priority™, or Expedited Parcel™) and create a shipping label online or at a Canada Post outlet. Tracking is automatically included with those services. Once the parcel is handed over to Canada Post, scan events (acceptance, transit, arrival, delivery) are recorded. If the parcel is then passed to a partner carrier internationally or locally, our tracking system continues to follow its progress without you needing to switch tracking tools.

Canada Post delivers packages and mail from Monday through Saturday. Some remote or special locations may have limited or no Sunday delivery. You can use our tracking tool at any time to view the latest scan events, transit progress, and delivery attempts. Because Canada Post has strong domestic coverage and integration with international postal networks, many retailers use it as a primary courier for shipments within Canada and for cross-border exports.

As your parcel moves through processing facilities, sorting centres, transit hubs, and the local delivery office, each scan event is recorded and updated in the tracking system. You can follow its path step by step in real time. If your parcel is handed off to a local or partner courier in the destination country, those updates are often merged into the same tracking record so you can see the full journey without switching platforms.

Canada Post is Canada’s national postal operator. Services that include tracking are included by default in many parcel options like Regular Parcel™, Xpresspost™, Priority™, and Expedited Parcel™. Some services (such as certain international small packet or surface mail options) may not include tracking, so always check the options when you ship. Because international parcels often transfer to other postal services abroad, the delivery time and reliability of the last mile depend partly on the partner postal service in the destination country. Using premium tracked services and accurate address and customs documentation helps maintain smooth tracking and faster delivery.
Canada Post has been operating since the 19th century and is the principal postal service in Canada, responsible for serving every address in the country. Over time it has evolved to support modern parcel logistics and eCommerce needs.
Many Canadian retailers and exporters prefer Canada Post because of its widespread network, established reliability, and seamless integration for domestic and international shipments. From the moment your parcel is accepted by Canada Post until final delivery—possibly via a local partner—you can track its journey transparently. Each scan event is recorded to give you visibility and peace of mind throughout the transit process.
